Municipal solid waste issue in Lebanon is larger than to be passed unseen. While most of the efforts in solid waste management and recycling attempt, the organic waste portion, which represents at least 40% of municipal solid waste, remains untackled.

BIOwayste offers a highly economical, extra safe,  plug & play,  self operating, customizable, and scalable system that treats organic waste on-site. The process produces natural fertilizer and cooking gas that can be used directly in any kitchen.

Our Products and Services

BIOwayste offers a system that digests organic waste to provide bio -gas and -fertilizer. The system includes the digester, gas storing chamber, and all the required piping. The start up period for the system ranges between 7 and 14 days. Afterwards, the gas flow will be continuous with an up-time reaches 3 hours per day. It can take up to 20 kg of food waste or 40 kg of animal manure per day.

Our Impact

• SDG7: The reduction in food waste will end up saving the institution money and resources by endorsing the use of clean renewable energy; mainly by the use of biogas as cooking gas.

• SDG11: BIOwayste could be jointly operated with municipalities in different areas to divert a larger amount of waste generated in cities from landfills.

• SDG12: BIOwayste will minimize the percentage of food wasted by up to 80% leading to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to up to 40% annually.

• SDG13: BIOwayste could provide significant research potential for a closed-loop renewable energy system. Besides, it will help in improving and spreading awareness around waste reduction and recovery.
